Vancouver Recital Society: 2026/27 Season

For the Vancouver Recital Society’s 2026/27 season, Copilot developed a bold new visual direction inspired by the season theme, Great Escapes. A playful system of geometric forms and vibrant colour interacts with the artist photography, giving each performance its own character while creating a distinctive and cohesive identity across the season. The design extends across brochures, advertising, print and digital materials.

Vancouver Bach Family of Choirs: 2026/27 Season

For the Vancouver Bach Family of Choirs’ 2026/27 season, Copilot created a series of original paintings inspired by the music, themes and character of each performance. Moving between expressive abstraction and more contemplative compositions, each piece was traditionally painted in gouache on illustration board before being developed into posters, advertising and digital materials.

Vancouver Fringe Festival 2025

For the 2025 Vancouver Fringe Festival, Copilot created a whimsical cast of characters to capture the festival’s playful and unpredictable spirit. Bold colour, unexpected textures and quirky silhouettes form a flexible visual language that extends across transit advertising, print and digital materials. The result is a lively campaign designed to reflect the energy, experimentation and creative freedom at the heart of Fringe.

Museum of Anthropology at UBC: Reopening Campaign

Following an 18-month closure for major seismic upgrades, the Museum of Anthropology at UBC reopened its doors in 2024. Copilot developed a bold campaign celebrating both the return of this important cultural institution and the iconic architecture of MOA itself. The campaign extended across print, digital, transit shelters and buses, creating a highly visible presence throughout Vancouver and building anticipation for the museum’s reopening.

United Players of Vancouver: 2026/27 Season

For United Players of Vancouver’s 2026/27 season, Copilot developed an original visual concept for each production in collaboration with each director. Each concept was brought to life through hand-painted illustration and design, capturing the distinct character, themes and atmosphere of the play while creating a cohesive visual presence across the season.

Vancouver Fringe Festival: 40th Anniversary

For the Vancouver Fringe Festival’s 40th anniversary, Copilot developed a striking visual campaign celebrating four decades of independent theatre and creative experimentation. Drawing inspiration from the festival’s history, a playful retro aesthetic brought new energy to the anniversary while retaining Fringe’s unconventional spirit. The campaign appeared throughout Vancouver and contributed to increased visibility, engagement and ticket sales for the milestone season.

Vancouver Bach Family of Choirs: Brand Refresh

The Vancouver Bach Family of Choirs wanted to refresh its identity while respecting its long musical tradition and reaching a broader contemporary audience. Copilot refined the logo, typography and signature red palette to create a warmer, more dynamic and versatile identity. The refreshed system improves clarity across print and digital applications while reflecting the collaboration, inclusivity and artistic excellence at the heart of the organization.

Vancouver Bach Family of Choirs: Selected Works 2025–2019

Over seven seasons, Copilot created an evolving body of work for the Vancouver Bach Family of Choirs. Each project begins with an original concept developed in response to the music and themes of the performance, then brought to life through hand-painted illustration and design. This approach gives each concert its own distinct visual character while maintaining continuity across the organization. The work spans season brochures, posters, advertising, transit and digital materials.

Ballet Kelowna: 2025/26 Season

Season graphics and brochure design for Ballet Kelowna. This design balances a bold colour palette with dynamic typography to create a modern, and approachable design. Silhouetted images were merged together to create a cover of interest. Overall, the design is versatile and distinctive, suited for a creative organization that values clarity, personality, and artistic expression.

Black Cat Books: Branding & Cover Design

Copilot created the visual identity and ongoing cover series for Black Cat Books, an independent publisher founded by author Shanon Sinn. Beginning with the brand identity, the visual language has evolved across the West Coast Grimm anthology series, with each cover built around an original concept and hand-painted gouache illustration. Inspired by the supernatural stories and landscapes of British Columbia, the series combines folklore, nature and a slightly unsettling sense of whimsy.

Vancouver Academy of Music: Branding Project

After three decades of its existing logo, the Vancouver Academy of Music initiated a comprehensive rebranding effort to reflect its evolution and aspirations. Copilot Design undertook extensive research and creative exploration to craft a new identity that honours the heritage of VAM while embracing a modern and innovative aesthetic. The resulting brand harmoniously blends tradition with a forward-thinking vision, capturing the essence of an institution dedicated to excellence in music education.

BC Live: Pacific Contact 2025

BC Live Pacific Contact Conference united industry leaders, practitioners, and advocates to explore the future of live events across BC’s communities. My design fused regional identity with functional clarity: a refined visual system using brand colors, bold typographic hierarchy, and adaptable iconography to highlight speakers, sessions, and venue logistics across print and digital. The results provided a cohesive attendee journey—from wayfinding and programme layouts to social graphics and speaker materials—ensuring information is clear, brand-forward, and rooted in a Pacific Northwest sensibility that honours place and purpose.

Opera Kelowna: 3 pillar brand design

Opera Kelowna is a non-profit opera company delivering exceptional Canadian opera performances in the Okanagan. A flexible template design strategy was needed for their three pillars: performance, education, and community. Copilot devised a system within the’ O’ of Opera Kelowna’s brand, and implemented a colour palette to unify the pillars but allowed each one to stand on their own, with options to change images within the ‘O’. Scarf for main stage performances signifying excitement and movement, a paper airplane signifying out in the community, and a branch of blossoms for education signifying growth. This template system has been implemented in all marketing materials within the organization.

Gateway Theatre: 2024/25 Season

For Gateway Theatre’s 40th anniversary, Copilot developed the visual direction for a milestone season celebrating four decades of storytelling and performance. Original concepts, illustration and expressive typography give each production its own personality while connecting the season through a cohesive visual language. The resulting campaign reflects the diversity, imagination and theatricality behind Gateway’s “Season of Stories.”

The Vancouver Academy of Music’s Symphony Series features exceptional concerts at the Orpheum Theatre and Kay Meek Arts Centre. Copilot created original illustrations and design, integrating creative across print and web platforms for a cohesive experience that reflects the artistry of the Symphony Series.

Simon Fraser University: Advancement & Alumni Engagement

Copilot worked with SFU Advancement and Alumni Engagement to develop a series of fundraising communications designed to connect with alumni and donors. The first campaign responded to the changing reality of student life during the pandemic, using an original concept to create an engaging and relatable message. Subsequent projects expanded the visual approach through hand-drawn illustration and design across print, digital and donor communications.

CHAN CENTRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS - 11 SEASONS OF DESIGN

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts has earned an international reputation for its striking design and stellar acoustics. Copilot has designed all of their season materials for the past 11 seasons. Brochures, posters, and ads designed with elegance, freshness and a bold presentation. 2021 shifted things online with the creation of the Chan Dot Com Series. Copilot continued with the Chan until 2022, when they switched to in-house design following the look and feel created by Copilot Design.

VANCOUVER RECITAL SOCIETY: BRANDING

The Vancouver Recital Society is a premier concert presenter that offers internationally renowned concert series for world class artists. After extensive research and exploration, the identity was created to fit the personality of the company. Copilot handles all collateral for the VRS such as posters, brochures, postcards, print and online ads.

CHAN CENTRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS: REBRAND

The Chan Centre required a revitalization to their current brand identity. By using some of the existing elements, Copilot Design brought the identity to a more unified look and modern feel. The new logo coincided with UBC’s updated branding, and was seamlessly integrated into all their marketing materials.

The Peter Wall Institute for Advance Studies: 30 Year Legacy Book

A commemorative table top book in hardcover and soft cover celebrating the achievements of Peter Wall features a striking 28 page, perfect bound 11” x 11” format. A blind emboss technique on the cover enhances its tactile and visual appeal, creating a sophisticated finish. Typography and image, balances modern aesthetics with readability. This integration of design elements promotes the brand's identity and elevates the overall presentation, in a visually cohesive and compelling look and feel.

District of Sechelt: Utility Box Illustration

The Sechelt utility box featuring bears and bees has received positive community feedback. This design highlights local wildlife and promotes environmental awareness, showcasing the significance of bears and bees in the ecosystem. Its vibrant colours and playful imagery engage passersby and strengthen their connection to nature. Residents value the thoughtful representation of these species, reflecting Sechelt's biodiversity. Overall, the project transforms a utilitarian object into inspiring public art that embodies community values and identity.

CHAN CENTRE'S 20th ANNIVERSARY

The Chan Centre celebrated 20 years of exceptional programming, and Copilot designed all the materials to let world know of it’s milestone achievement. The challenge was to engage audiences with the spirit of the Chan Centre without drawing on any one performance. This resulted in a vibrant and diverse range of musicians through colour and non descriptive images of performers. Designing the book of written stories of the past 20 years was the highlight of this project.

PETER WALL INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED STUDIES: THE WALL EXCHANGE LECTURE SERIES

The Wall Exchange is a program that brings prominent intellectuals to Vancouver for a lecture and discussion of key societal issues. Poster designs include speakers: Professor Cédric Villani, Andrew Feinstein, Ali Velshi, Rosalind Picard, and Carl Hart.

Vancouver Academy of Music: Brochure Designs

The Vancouver Academy of Music brochures combine elegance and clarity to highlight its music education programs. The layout are well-organized, leading readers through programs and services with appealing images and matching brand colours. The typography is easy to read, making important information clear. Graphic elements add a lively touch, representing the Academy's artistic values and commitment to developing musical talent. These designs are both informative and a symbol of the Academy’s dedication to building a strong musical community.

UNITED PLAYERS OF VANCOUVER 2021-22 SEASON

United Players of Vancouver is a long-established community theatre company renowned for its exciting and demanding repertoire of productions. Copilot Design was thrilled to work with them to create five original illustrations and designs for their upcoming 2021-2022 season.

District Of Sechelt: Banner Design

Copilot Design was chosen by the District of Sechelt to create an original illustrations for street banners to be displayed throughout the town. Focusing on the beautiful surroundings of Sechelt, and with an acknowledgment of history of local steamship Lady Rose, Copilot created these original works for the District. The response from the community was a resounding success!

BALLET KELOWNA: 2014/15 SEASON

Ballet Kelowna's mission is to inspire, educate and entertain through the energy and artistry of ballet. Copilot created their 2014/15 season brochure and poster designs. The creative gave the company the level of sophistication they were looking for. 

NATIONAL BALLET OF CUBA : DON QUIXOTE

Brent Belsher & the late David Y.H Lui presented the Canadian premiere of the National Ballet of Cuba's production of Don Quixote. Copilot created an authentic design, to try to capture the essence and flair of Cuba. Influenced by early revolutionary poster art and old style typography, the design came together with a personality reminiscent of the 1950’s.

BLACKBIRD THEATRE: WAITING FOR GODOT

Poster design created for Blackbird Theatre's adaptation of Waiting for Godot. Surrealism, with a bit of humour, were key factors in this creation. The concept was carried forth to the type ‘Waiting’, which was made out of string and incorporates a noose for the 'g' - adding another whimsical reference to the play. 

BLACKBIRD THEATRE: WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?

Blackbird Theatre’s objective: create an eye-catching poster to promote their play Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Influenced by the work of Saul Bass - responsible for many Alfred Hitchcock posters, Copilot delivered an impactful creative including illustration and design for their print and online campaign.

The Vancouver Academy of Music’s main stage concerts are performed at Vancouver’s iconic venue, the Orpheum Theatre. Original concepts and illustrations (gouache on board) incorporated into poster designs were created by Copilot and rolled out for print and web.

Vancouver Academy of Music: 2015-2018 Brochure Designs

Vancouver Academy of Music is the city's premiere centre of music education, serving aspiring musicians from early childhood to collegiate levels. Copilot design has created their academic brochures for the past few years. Copilot created interesting, colourful brochures that showcases the energy of the organization.

BLACKBIRD THEATRE: DON JUAN

Blackbird Theatre's adaptation of Moliére's comedy, called for a bold and audacious creative. Painting an original Don Juan as the main focus, with supporting elements relating to the play, Copilot captured the mystery and intrigue of this rogue character. 

Vancouver Recital Society - Seasons 2014/15–2022/23

Copilot Design rebranded the VRS in 2014 with a bold new colour palette and created a cohesive visual identity that blends classical weight with modern warmth.

Early seasons used restrained typography and B&W portraits to foreground artists; later years added seasonal colours. Posters, brochures, digital banners, and ads shared consistent grids, serif–sans pairings, and clear hierarchy. Special campaigns added experimental layouts while retaining the core identity, producing a versatile, recognizable look that honoured the VRS and broadened audience engagement. These brochures showcase Copilot Design’s work spanning the 2014–15 through 2022–23 seasons.

Vancouver Bach Choir: Earlier Seasons

This selection of earlier work traces the beginnings of Copilot’s long-standing collaboration with the Vancouver Bach Choir. Each concert began with an original concept inspired by the music and themes of the performance, brought to life through hand-painted illustration and design. Spanning a wide range of styles and techniques, these works established a creative collaboration that has continued to evolve over more than a decade.

KOERNER QUARTET 2015/16 SEASON

The Koerner Quartet is a Canadian group of musicians with an international reputation for performances with a sophisticated interpretive style. Posters and rack cards were designed for their series of four performances. Each original painting was created while listening to the selected works for each concert.

ROYAL WINNIPEG BALLET: 2013/14 SEASON

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet needed a new look for all of their marketing materials. Modern typography and clean layouts were introduced alongside stylistic photography. The contemporary look changed the perception of this traditional company. Elements were carried through print, online, and signage. With Copilot laying the foundation, they have continued to incorporate these themes into future seasons.

Joe Fortes: 25th Anniversary Logo and Lobster Oil Package Design

Joe Fortes, a Vancouver legendary restaurant! Copilot Design was approached to design a special 25th Anniversary edition of the Joe Fortes logo. The packaging design for Joe Fortes Lobster Oil captures the essence of its rich culinary heritage. The design’s modern aesthetics combined with traditional old time elements, reflects the premium quality of the product.

Blackbird Theatre: Uncle Vanya

Blackbird Theatre's production of Chekhov's Uncle Vanya called for a classical feel for the creative. Drawing inspiration from the early 1900s, Copilot illustrated the cast using a press photo from Blackbird's releases, enhancing period details and mood to evoke the play's historical atmosphere.
